"This non-achromatic telescope has a decagonal barrel made of mahogany and a single brass draw tube that unscrews in the middle. The other fittings are also of brass and include a sliding eyepiece and objective lens covers, although the objective slide is now missing and the eyepiece cover assembly is no longer attached. The maker's name and address are engraved on the draw tube as 'Ayscough Ludgate Street London'. The length of the telescope suggests that it was intended for astronomical observations and would have been supported by some sort of stand when in use" (Royal Museums Greenwich).
