Main tube is vellum decorated with red and green spots and overlaid with gold tooled motifs. The signature appears twice in gold stamping on the main tube. The ferrules are decorated in the same way. There are eight vellum draw tubes also gold tooled. There is an inscription handwritten in ink on one of the draws. A brass lens cell carrying a doublet lens is a much later replacement for the original objective lens. The lens has many black streaks and bubbles.
