Public Notes:

Main tube 80 mm in diameter, covered in red leather. Wood body has numerous wood-worm holes. Around center and both ends on leather are bands of floral (lambrequin) gold and blue tooling. Brass mountings and cap are turned, with milled edges. Objective lens housing screws into brass mount. The lens housing has room for another lens, so maybe the unit was achromatic. Brass screw-on end cap. The two eyepiece lenses are in brass mount, in turn mounted on a short brass draw tube (length = 46 mm). Metal aperture disc inside the draw tube. A sliding dust shield inside the eye hole rotates on an arc. Draw tube has screw threads for end cap (missing). Maker's signature engraved along side of draw tube.
