Cardboard and wood construction.Attributed to Milanese telescope maker Pietro Patroni.

"Spyglass with a black lacquered body, decorated among others with a bird and flowers on lacquered wood. Short green drawtube with gold tooling. Length 7-10 cm, Ø 3 cm. Unsigned, but the decoration and tooling is characteristic of Pietro Patroni from Milan. First half of the eighteenth century.

According to Lualdi (1995) the instrument maker Pietro Patroni (d. 1744) decorated his instruments with ‘brightly coloured flowers, birds and human figures painted on lacquered wood’" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).
