"Small spyglass made of Wedgwood porcelain, with a representation of the marriage between the mythological figures Cupid and Psyche. Length 9 cm, Ø 5 cm. Unsigned, but attributed to the firm Watkins & Hill, as an identical – signed – specimen is in the collection (MusEYEum) of the British Optical Association. First half of the nineteenth century.

The instrument maker Francis Watkins and Wiliam Hill formed an optical companionship in London between 1819 and 1856" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).
