Green rayskin. Rayskin of this size was very expensive, a noble gift. Crown forward. Adams is optician to the king. Dollond is optician to the Duke of York. Scope was gift to Duke's mistress. "HRH Duke of York's present to Mrs Chester at Knole 2nd Aug 1766" Earliest surviving four-lens eyepieces, rendering five-lens eyepiece obsolete. Corrected for spherical and chromatic aberration. Silvered rings, silver on black ivory.
